Labview PID's with no setpoints

Our team is using labview for our programming code this year. We are trying to use the rate change PID to stop our motors from instantly reversing and causing grinding. If anyone know how to use them correctly we could use the help.
P.S. Last year we got the normal PID VI along with and encoder setpoint, but that wouldn’t work because we have no setpoint. Thanks to anyone who replies.
