Last year we used a My RoboRio project build but this year there is no project called my RoboRio when we go to create project. If you could give us help with this we’d love you 5ever. :]
I would suggest looking at the WPI ScreenSteps webpage for a “Getting Started”-type guide. Then, if you have other questions, we’ll be ahppy to answer them
Specifically, you’re likely missing the 2016 Update Suite.
Senior RuffleRidge, we already made the update, but thanks anyways. Other guy complaining about our multiple threads I refuse to apologize for something that was not a mistake nobody responded fast enough.
Sometimes just posting a ‘bump’ in the thread. I watch this folder throughout the day as my job permits. You gave 20 minutes between creating the two threads at 7PM. Guess what I, and probably most other teams are doing at 7PM? Probably meeting with their team! Be patient!
You said you installed the update. When you open LabVIEW, do you see this screen:
http://wpilib.screenstepslive.com/s/4485/m/13811/l/145335-creating-building-and-loading-your-benchtop-test-program/show_image?image_id=8030575
If not, then you did not install the update, or it didn’t install successfully.
Here’s a link to the page where you can get the update: https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-46527
Follow the instructions here:
http://wpilib.screenstepslive.com/s/4485/m/13811/c/57243
It doesn’t look like you have installed the update suite. Perhaps try installing it again?
Okie dokie I’ll try again thanks.
So I downloaded the stuff at the link that you sent me here: http://www.ni.com/download/labview-for-frc-15.0/5774/en/
And all that did was download a zipfile, which I couldn’t open? Help some more? Much appreciated.
Did you use the encryption key in the links that jojoguy10 and RyanN pointed you to.
The encryption key is about one screen down on the
“Installing the FRC 2016 Update Suite (All Languages)” page
READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!
RIght click on the downloaded zip file and select Extract All. If you downloaded the encrypted zip file, you will be prompted for encryption key
It’s in red text on the page: @Ahead)Together!FRC^2016
So we did the zip file extraction and nothing changed from the first time. Any other suggestions?
did you run the exe in the zip file called setup.exe?
Did you put in the password?
I seem to remember Windows not handling the password protected ZIP file correctly (Not sure why NI still has a password protected ZIP file being distributed).
I like 7Zip, but WinRAR and WinZip are also good alternatives.
The password was removed at some point yesterday. It just hadn’t been updated with the non-protected version.
When you try to install, what do each of the screens say? Do any of them say they aren’t installing the software? Do they list the software being installed? Does it ask for your S/N? Does it bring up activation at the end?
If you’re running into problems, your best bet for this question is likely to give the support team a call at 866-511-6285 between 1-7PM Central.
The others in here are correct. Something isn’t going right with the Update Suite installation. That’s why you’re not seeing the roboRIO project.
Please confirm for all of us that you are following the instruction on this link!!! Installing the FRC 2016 Update Suite (All Languages)
With or without the encryption code. “The password was removed at some point yesterday.”
Tell us you are seeing the screens shown in this document
Installing the FRC 2016 Update Suite (All Languages)
There is an Addendum - Installing on Windows 8 at the bottom of this web page if that is the problem.
Installing the FRC 2016 Update Suite (All Languages)
Tell us what you see different than what is shown in Installing the FRC 2016 Update Suite (All Languages) so that we might be able to tell what has gone wrong.
It looks like you’ve got the Update Suite installed and were able to get a project put together.
The project is going to try to talk to your roboRIO assuming you’ve run this year’s image on it. You can do that by choosing roboRIO Imaging Tool 2016 from the Utilities tab on the splash screen.
The name for the roboRIO is slightly different than it was last year. Open up IE and look for roboRIO-TEAM-FRC.local where TEAM is your team number. You should be able to see a web utility for your roboRIO here. If not, we’re likely running into issues with the IP address.
Are you connecting via USB or Ethernet currently?
