Lasers?

Can we use laser range finders as a distance measuring tool, or is that not allowed? I think it would make it much easier to aim if we could find out how far the hoops are (exactly). The sonic range sensors only have a 20 foot range, and they can be interfered with by other bots blocking your sound waves.

See Blue Box, [R08]. Search is your friend. ::rtm::

Look at ro8 they say no lasers.

Thanks you guys. Pretty sad about this though…

Try again - they say no lasers with some exceptions.

Your very right Gary! You can use laser this year as long as they are Class 1. But you have to keep in mind other rules that might make the use of even a class 1 laser if it is blinding drivers.::rtm::

Aren’t all radar devices essentially lasers? so, following this (and skipping things like the 2.4 Ghz band, to avoid interference) could you use a radar rangefinder? After all, the first laser was in the microwave band!

Additional benefit- the MPE should be higher for lower frequency devices, allowing for a higher wattage.

Of course, this is probably all wrong…
