learning

Hey how did you all learn how to use 3ds max?

It was funny. I was on furlough from my job at Xerox so I used the opportunity to learn the program at Wilson(my wife is a teacher there) and encouraged the girls(all four of our student animators were girls. We had one boy at first but he moved to another subteam and we got another girl) to come after school to learn the program. So for we learned the program together using the tutorials. The girls were quick studies. When we started the actual animation the girls took ownership of the project. Everything you see in our animation is basically all them. The girls are amazing! Future X-Cat animation teams will have high standards to live up to.

I learned Max on my own through either just playing with the program for a while or if someone knew how to do something I wanted, Frank, I would ask them for their help.

The way I learned I regret,
First of all nobody had really done an animation for like 5 years, so nobody knew what it really was.
So I’m liek ok ill do it, and I just took the book and read it, well other peopel get interested after I have completed one tutorial, and they’re like “teach me teach me” lol. So I had to try to help other kids learn the program while I wass stil learnign the baics my slef, so it really slowed me down. LOL then 2 of the dorpped out because it was ‘too hard’.
SO here I am making this animation while still reading the books lol. not knowing what a superspray was or how to fully work a camera ir anything like that.
But in the end I end I guess they autodesk somewhat liked it because it was showed at epcot. Even though I personially feel that It could use a lot of work, but I got a sweet plan for next year. so watch out lol.
