Limelight 3 not getting assigned ip address

When connecting our limelight via an ethernet switch, it isn’t discoverable by limelight finder when connected to the robot. We checked the status lights, and figured out that the limelight is not getting assigned an IP address. We have tried changing out the switch, POE injector, and reprogramming the radio, but non of that seems to work. We also tried using a second limelight 3, but the same issue occurs. Additionally, we have tried swapping out all the electronics involved (PDH, RoboRIO, etc), but we had no success. Any help on how to fix this would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Team 9023

Does your ethernet switch have your rio, and limelight on the same switch? or did you end up using BOTH ports of the radio?

Just confirming that there is a robot radio somewhere connected to the network. If not, there will be no router to assign devices IPs.

We have it set up where the Ethernet switch is connected to the roborio, and the limelight and radio are connected to the Ethernet switch on two separate ports. We are using the SW-015 Ethernet switch from brainboxes.

Hey, we are competing in Capitol City Classic this month and one of the modified rules prohibits such. “R703 is revised to remove the option to have a network switch between the roboRIO and robot radio: The roboRIO Ethernet port must be directly connected to the “RIO” port on the VH-109 robot radio.” Do you have any recommendations of how we can work around this? We are using 3 limelights and have 2 connected to the aux1 and aux2 on the VH-109. The other is connected to the Ethernet switch where we connected roboRio-> ethernet switch → radio. When we try connecting more than one limelight to the switch, it does not connect. Any help would be appreciated.

Just so I understand- how is your network layed out when it doesn’t work? It’s not clear where the switch is plugged in currently.

You’ll want to plug the switch into one of the aux ports, and connect two of the limelights to it. The third can connect to the switch as well, or the other aux port, and obviously the rio is directly connected to the rio port.
