Limelight Game Piece Detection For FRC 2024

Hey everyone! I’m curious about game piece detection software and running trained models, and I’d love to hear about your experiences. Are any of you currently using specific software for game piece detection, such as Robo Flow or others? Also, any tips on running trained models in lightweight environments like Limelight would be incredibly helpful! Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge.

Last year we used a google coral hooked up to a limelight, running limelight’s software and pre trained models for our object detection. It worked great for us with little to no issues the entire season.

Hey @Dylan336 , thanks a bunch for sharing your experience! Using a Google Coral with Limelight’s software and pre-trained models for object detection sounds like a solid setup. Our team is definitely keeping an eye on Limelight’s pre-trained models

Appreciate your insights, and if you have any more tips or suggestions, feel free to share. Cheers!

The only things that i can think of (right now) is

  • hot glue your usb-c connector to the limelight
  • make sure its tubed to the lighting
  • leds off
  • set your crosshair to be as close to your intake as possible

The only issue we ever had was with lighting or when the usb on the limelight side got crushed in comp and we had to replace the limelight.
Here is the best pics I have of the coral+limelight, the coral is behind the limelight

Edit: Also, if youre thinking about doing it, i would say go for it! You never know what you can do until you try.
