we were calibrating the limelight and an idea popped on my head how to calibrate it faster. what if we use a lux detector to measure the luminous of a certain room and relate that to certain settings of the limelight to be able to accurately find appropriate settings in the competition based on the light environment in there. Is it worth trying to figure out mathematically how the light environment of a room relates to the perfect settings or is manual adjustments in the tournament better / less time consuming?
How sensitive are the calibration of the April tag pipelines to the room light? I thought one of the advantages was that it would be less field finicky than retro tape.
so far we have only tested it in two different but fairly similar light environments yet the exposure settings had to be tuned alot between these two rooms. so it is effected by light but we don’t really know how sensitive it is.
We practice in a building with varying light throughout the day, and we did have to adjust our pipeline as the day would go on. Thought that was normal but am now interested in learning if that’s not the case!
Based on what we have experienced i agree with this, never had to adjust our apriltags pipeline for lighting at our facility or at competition. Our lighting “at home” is not as good as the field… aka darker.
