Limelight tricks and tips

We are a rookie team and we are trying to get our Limelight set up. From a technical perspective, everything seems to be working fine, but I think that the environments we are testing in are making it harder… Essentially it’s picking up lots of stray lights, reflected metal, etc. We are using the tools to eliminate outliers, etc. I’m sure the conditions are different at each tournament.

How can we create conditions that will allow us to test?

Thanks for any advice!

If you want our pipeline that we use I can give you that. We’ve had no problems had all at our 2 comps. It’s all about tuning it in at the event during the field calibration times!

Would you be able to tune it in the type of environment that I described? Our fear is that we don’t know how to calibrate well enough and that we won’t be able to practice using it before the competition and/or that we won’t be able to get it working at the competition.

That said, we’d love to see what you have if you don’t mind sharing. Thank you!!

Try maxing out your red balance, then retuning your HSV filter. This makes everything in your image red, while the targets stay very green. This makes it easier to differentiate the targets and other bright objects.

We have barely had to tune our limelights in different environments with this trick. In fact, I think at TXDCMP we didn’t even change anything on our pipeline, the tune we had from the shop needed no changes at comp.

Exactly what we did! Red balance helps a ton.
