Limelight video not showing

When using the limelight with the robot turned off, I can access the limelight web interface, but I can’t see the video stream. I do get tx and ty updates, but the video itself doesn’t show. For information, I’m connecting the limelight through PoE with a 12V 2A wall adapter and an ethernet cable connected to my computer. I’ve read other threads and this has been correctly done.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Are you accessing it from the static IP? If so is your laptop setup to be on the same network?

Make sure that you’ve set up the network correctly Getting Started — Limelight 1.0 documentation

Additionally, you typically only connect through ethernet coming from your radio to your computer only during comp. If your radio is programmed to be able to connect to it already then it is more reliable to get the PoE and hook an ethernet from the orange cables ethernet port to your roborio and an ethernet from your limelight to your radios far right port then connecting to the roborio via wifi and then connecting to the limelight through 10.66.47.2 in the browser

I’ve tried to; the limelight is configured as static IP, but I can’t connect to it via the IP, only through limelight.local:5801

The thing is I’m trying to use the limelight with the robot off, that’s why i’m connecting it to the pc separately

Your laptop must be set to the same network. How to set a static IP address on Windows 10 - Pureinfotech

I recommend the control panel method

I’m pretty sure that isn’t possible, but I may be wrong. I’ve always done limelight testing with the setup I have described.

Okay, thanks, ill try this solution

LL to PC works for me. Static IPs is best. Names might work, too, but you still must be on the same network.

Oh okay then, I’ll try using Static IP to connect. Thanks. Were you able to see the video stream even when connected to PC?

Also just incase you didn’t know your laptop must be a different address so for example if you limelight is 10.79.0.15 in the case of team #7900 your laptop should be something like 10.79.0.16 so that the last section isn’t the same.

Yes I had an Ethernet cable from the LL to my PC. In case you don’t know what it means to be on the same network: the IP address of the LL must match the IP address of the PC wherever the subnet mask has a bit one. The LL docs suggest 255.255.255.0 and that’s what I normally use and will work for the examples others have given here.

I hope I’m not leading you astray. There was some odd restriction using the LL but I don’t remember it being the roboRIO; I could be wrong and I don’t have a LL at home to try it. Sorry.

I believe the odd restriction I was thinking of is the LL won’t use a NetworkTables Server that isn’t on a real roboRIO. I had a NetworkTables server on my PC and named the PC the same as a roboRIO and used the IP address of a roboRIO but LL still wouldn’t use the NetworkTables server on it. I don’t remember this effecting the video streams. If they don’t show, try accessing them with their IP addresses which you have set and if they still don’t show, right click on where they should be and select Load Image (in Chrome).
