Linear Threaded Actuator Snap Ring hold up

We are assembling out new linear actuator’s from Rev robotics and are having issue with the snap ring. Fairly early in the process, step 6. We can’t seem to find the space to which they go into? Anyone have any expertese putting these together??

Is there not groove in the end of this part?

If there is and it is not poking thru the bearings, then maybe the bearings aren’t pressed in far enough?
