Load-in Day Checklist

As 80% of my team are first-year rookies this year and I’m afraid of missing anything, I was looking for a pit packing checklist and checklist of things to do on the load-in day (day 0) - small things like loading comp radio firmware, etc. Surprisingly, I was having trouble finding anything similar on this forum. Does your team have any such checklist to share? Thx a lot!

here’s a non detailed one from 2019. There’s a lot more involved with several of the items, of course.

And the radio gets updated at the competition, there are folks there who will provide the necessary equipment and help you get it working.

Not exactly a checklist…but my advice for packing:

Set everything you want to bring to competition aside at least a week before. Then, set up a 10x10 area in your shop with all of those supplies, and try to work only out that “pit.” You’ll quickly learn what tools you might have forgotten to pack if you find yourself looking outside the pit for tools and spare parts.

Better yet, do this for a few weeks or even longer. If your pit crew is accustomed to the setup, you’ll get the additional benefit of working more efficiently at the event – knowing where everything is, etc.

Here is what we have so far. RAK = Robot Aid Kit 5484 Packing List.xlsx (12.8 KB)

Definitely recommend this especially if its new students, my teams have tried this to great success and have been prepped for comp every time especially when we had to ship everything in a small crate.

This year, don’t forget to include your HP aprons.

Keep the safety glasses separate from the pit stuff so they are available outside the pit area after load in. Your team members will need them to enter the pits.

yeah, it would be nice to be able to do that…and not have them get lost…

Usually we send most of the safety glasses with the students in the stands, and only have a few in the pits, with running back and forth required. This year with all of our students being on the drive team, I guess we’ll have to work out something different.

  • Don’t forget the keys for your trailer and toolboxes!
  • Not for most teams anymore, but: Bring the tools you need to open your crate - outside the crate!
  • Your other checklists, scouting forms, and other necessary doments!
  • A big dry erase board, markers, and eraser are great for keeping track of your schedule and passing along announcements to team.
