The Long Island teams were well represented at nationals. plainview/bethpage (353) was 2nd seed and made it to the finals in their division, we (271) were 3rd seed and made it to the finals in our division, east islip (311) was the 1st seed in their division made it all the way to the final 3 matches. all 3 of these teams should be back next year too, because of the odd number thing. so, i’m curious of what the rest of the country, canada, and brazil thinks of long island.
Yeah, Strong Island (dear god did I just say that? groan) represented itself well. With at least 25 or so schools with burgeoning Robotics programs on the Island this year and more on the way every year, we can definitely can get ourselves up there with the Midwest and Michigan.
Plus we have really annoying Lawn Guyland accents and a deuce of a lot of beaches. So we’re unique! Yeah!
HEY!!!
What about 810!?! Smithtown came down to nats, and as a rookie team, kicked some major %%% (can i say that?)! Coming in 30th place (or at least around that) out of 73, and being the second highest rookie team, we were awesome. Not to mention, we had one of the fastest and the strongest (at least according to the techno ticks) robots in Newton. Sadly, our chain somehow managed to come off before our final qualifing match, and we lost to RAGE, and that screwed us over. If we had won that round, we probably would have stopped them from winning, cause there was more of a chance of us getting picked for an alliance, and then we could have pushed 71 around. Oh well, next year we need to do even better.
Heheh… yea. Good job to all the Long Island teams Represent!!
West Islip (871) unfortunately wasnt able to go down this year (lack of funding), but has plans on going down in the future (I won’t be there, but hey). And from what other teams have said about us from the LI Regional, 871 should be another Long Island team to represent down at Nationals… How about next year we aim at getting West Islip, East Islip, and Bayshore to win it all? (And even the team numbers flow together… 271, 311, 871)

Hahaha, LOL… true.
But I will be away at college next year so why should I care about small-town WI/EI (heh, nah… I love Long Island). And I still need to decide on a school, ugh… Between mainly RIT and WPI right now (although I havent ruled out RPI or Cornell just yet, lol).
And yea I am psyched now cause I just found out from my teacher that our district has promised us $1200 to cover the transportation and registration fee for BattleCry3 @ WPI!! We only got to go to the LI Regional, so we NEEDED more lol. And things were looking down for us to go to BattleCry b/c we literally had NO money left. w000000t!!

If it influences your decision any, RIT will officially be sponsoring team 73 again next year (73 did not compete this year because of lack of corporate sponsors). We already have been guaranteed some funding. However, RIT students did participate on team 340 this year. If you have any other questions, feel free to contact me.
Matt
i think my team (263) should get some attention in here, let me know what you think of it (the little black robot with two claws that was very strong)
Noooo… No one cares about Sachem…
heheh, j/k I dont really remember your bot from the LI Reg…
heh, we seated i think 15th at sbpli this year, not as good as last year, but we were there (little black strong robot)
personally I think Team 496 got overlooked at nationals. We had some really bad pairings but if a team had picked us they would have found out WE CAN DANCE. Expect to see us at nats next year, but next year were going for it all. 6 trophies in 2 years and counting!
