Looking for a Lunacy game piece

Does anyone have any Lunacy game pieces that they don’t want anymore, and would be willing to give/sell them to another team?

Why buy when you can make?

The Lunacy game pieces were discontinued years ago, and a very large number were damaged.

But, with some polycarbonate, fabric, and fasteners, you can build your own, as many teams did during the 2009 build season. Some searching in the CD-Media category will probably turn up the designs/templates used by a those that posted.

Those who played the game will recall that among its several shortcomings was a shortage of store bought game pieces. Several teams built their own.

This was the best thread from 2009 I could find. The PDF is from that thread. Their original website doesn’t host the page that is listed first.

Also looking online they were called Orbit Balls by the original manufacturer and sold through Walmarts. Soon after kickoff there was a circulated PDF with a list of every Walmart that carried them. It was a constant issue trying to get enough of them. I wasn’t part of FIRST at the time but found notes in our lab when I first took over.

Yea, that’s because the manufacturer discontinued it between when it was chosen as the game piece, and kickoff. They were almost impossible to find, and once your local walmart was out, you were out of luck. This was a big issue at the time in areas with high team densities and low walmart counts.

We’re in Metro Detroit… Definitely gonna be a high FRC concentration area which is probably why they had the notes

Smart money is that the Walmarts lost 'em in 5 minutes.

I was in college in South Dakota at the time. Sent a few home from the local Walmart as there weren’t any teams in the area.

Here’s a list of the last known Orbit balls… 14 years ago.

Edit: it looks like your best bet is a time machine and a trip to Pine Bluff, AR.
