Looking for tools to teach frc electrical and programming

Alright, so basically I am the only person on my team that was dedicated enough to learn all about the parts, electrical, and programming during the offseason (of last year). So I have been given days during the offseason called “Carter Workshop Days” where I’m supposed to teach people about stuff. Now I’m not sure how much people on my team know about electricity so I’d like to start with the basics there, things like amps, voltage, the absolute basics. I was wondering if anyone had any sort of curriculum that they could give me, or any tools they use to teach kids.

My team doesn’t have any sort of mentor that helps with the robot so I’m kinda our best bet.
Anything helps!

I made this slideshow a while back about electrical. It covers basic wiring guidelines, different connectors, the control system electronics, etc.

This slideshow is meant to be paired with talking explanations and info. I also had them practice (when we got to specific slides) using wire strippers, crimping, using the wago terminals, and the weidmuller connectors on things like the vrm. Also bringing out the control system components helped. The cancoder slide is meant to explain how you would go from looking at a product, to knowing where to plug it in. Also please make sure that people check the strip length guides provided by the manufacturer (on website or tech sheet).

I also had them wire a robot from scratch using the wpilib docs in group’s after the slides and practice. The how to wire an frc robot video from FIRST can be good to make your sub team watch before continuing.

Unfortunately we don’t have the resources to wire stuff up, because our one and only PDH is on the robot, but I’m planning on teaching them how to crimp wires, how to determine wire length, things like that.

I don’t mean to give myself too much credit, but our wiring was really good this year, and we had no issues involving it.

So far that only does pneumatics… I sadly note the OP has excluded that from their request.

Unfortunately I really doubt we will ever use pneumatics… unless absolutely required by the game. I’m not TOTALLY against it tho.

So if you have any resources about them, I would love to learn some about them personally.
