Put up a search on eBay - that’s how I found and purchased my V1.
I’ve seen at one or more come up since buying mine about a year ago (need to kill that search)
It’s a fairly specialized item so don’t set your sights on getting it for $100, around $400 seems to be the going price - you will see some crazy sellers asking $6,000 for it, I trust you can ignore those…
Only crazy sellers selling as we speak.
I’ did a search on eBay for a week - no results.
Andymark replayed that don’t have in the warehouse and no delivery dates.
It’s pity that we can’t start with FRC this summer.
It took me a few months to get a hit that wasn’t one of the crazy sellers and wasn’t a copy of the John Wayne western Rio Lobo - asking here is probably your best shorter term strategy.
You can do a lot in the simulator.
There is also the romi, or if you are ambitious you can run most of it on an atomic pi, raspberry pi or similar SBC
Perhaps you can ask a team with an extra one to loan one to you and your team replaces it by ordering one to be delivered to the team that made the loan. That would minimize the shipping since it appears you are in Lithuania.
thanks for the suggestions. For now, we have CIM, 775 motors; their controllers, sensors, etc. The main missing part is Roborio.
… no idea how to find out that team that can load Roborio for x weeks/months. I contacted Andymark, they don’t give me any dates or promises when Roborio will be available.
So it’s a risk that delivery will be extra delayed or canceled.
If you are looking to start learning as a rookie team maybe try to reach out to teams in your area, I’m sure someone will be happy to loan you a roborio.
What motor controllers do you have?
Looks like you are in Lithuania. Closest folks off the top of my head who would have spare Rios to loan might be @Justin_Foss @RoelvanOs4481
We have Victor SRX, Talon SRX.
Ah so Can bus. I don’t have that working yet in my fake HAL.
According to this map, around Europe there are also teams in Poland, Sweden, Germany, Czech Republic, Croatia, Switzerland, others in the Netherlands, France, and England that have all competed in the last few years. Not to mention a ton of teams in Turkey and Israel. I imagine you could find one of them who would be willing to lend you a roboRIO if you agreed to pay for shipping.
If you really want to make it a good deal, you could offer to buy their roboRIO 1.0 for the price of a roboRIO 2.0 (whenever they become available again). The 1.0 is still plenty good for FRC purposes, and I imagine there are teams that are looking to make the switch for the minor benefits. But if you’re going down that route, it might be better to find a US team to make the deal with so you only have to pay international shipping once instead of a second time to get the roboRIO 2.0 to Europe.
