Figured I would share this, if other people/teams want to run this team-building exercise, they could.

Every once in a while at Flexware, we do an “Engineering Challenge”. After our marketing person bungled the Marshmallow Challenge (google this, highly recommended) with painter’s tape, the squeaking wheel got the grease and I was told to design the next challenge.

Since then, I’ve been designing challenges. This is the 4th challenge I’ve come up with.

20 minutes is pretty quick for a build time. The “best” group filed a bunch of grievances and then dropped a marble in a cup for 10 points. 3 other groups tried to create a loop and failed miserably

I’d recommend allotting 1 - 2 hours to do this.

Here’s a picture of materials beforehand. Foam pipe insulation cut in half, 5/8" inner diameter 1/8" wall vinyl tubing, and 1/2" ball bearings.
