Lost and Found at Regionals

I’m not sure if anyone else has had this problem, but here goes.

At Peachtree, I was my team’s programmer (1002), and on the second day of competition (Friday), first thing we brought the robot over to the practice field to test out. As I needed to follow the robot with a tether to the laptop, I took it out of the case and set the case down next to the practice driver’s station. After spending maybe 5 minutes on the field and maybe 2 minutes making sure the robot was settled, I went to retrieve the laptop case, and it wasn’t there.

At first I figured it was in the way and someone had moved it to the side of the field, but after searching for it for 5 minutes I determined that wasn’t the case. I asked the people from our team who were helping to run the field to look out for it and let me know if they saw it turn up. As we were actively working on the robot all day, I was unable to search extensively for it personally, but I had several of my teammates help me out trying to find where it had gotten, I had them make several announcements both days, and whenever I got some extra time I would go in search for it. By the end of competition on Saturday no one had seen it and it wasn’t in the lost and found. Regrettably, I filled out a lost item form and went home without the laptop case, which also had several other things in it.

Fortunately I still have the laptop itself as well as the wireless card but now I don’t even have the AC adaptor. I’m hoping I don’t have to assume the worst, but I have a feeling I might. So, my question to those who were there at Peachtree is, could you please check and see if you accidentally have an extra laptop case you didn’t have before? I realize that it would probably be easy to mix it up with someone else’s and end up with two and if that’s the case than please let me know I’ll be very grateful. It’s a black laptop case with DELL in blue letters on the front flap. If anyone has seen it or know where it might have gotten to, I’d greatly appreciate it.

It’s unfortunate things like this happen and it shows that especially with electronics to keep a good eye on them. I hope you find it and that no one took it deliberatly. In case you don’t find it I included a link where you could get a replacement AC adapter cheaper than going through the OEM manufacturer and still be genuin OEM. I have ordered from them several times for my Toshiba laptops and have never had any problems with them.

I’m sorry to hear about that,

I’ve had similar things happen to me this year; at the detroit regional and the GLR. I lost my camera and my backback =-(. But I was able to find them after a lot of searching. What happened in both events was that a team close by picked it up by accident and put it near their stuff. So I urge you to contact teams that were near your pit section.

good luck,

I had a similar problem this year at the Orlando regional. I only lost my sweatshirt (never found it). I know that the price of ac adapters is crazy so goodluck with the website.

Unfortunately, it was next to the practice field when it disappeared, so it could have been any of the teams there that could have picked it up by accident. Thanks for the good luck wishes. I posted here because I am not aware of a better way to get into contact with so many teams at once. So, if you are reading this and your team went to the peachtree regional, if you could check around - especially if you were on the practice field Friday morning (before opening ceremonies) - I would greatly appreciate it

Yeah, one of my friends at Great lakes lost (at least I’m hoping it was lost and not stolen, but she is absolutely positive she left it in the stands with all of the rest of our stuff) her purse. It’s small and black and had a cell phone, some money, and her ID in it. If anyone found it, she’s still hoping someone will notice they have something that’s not theirs and return it.

Have your main team contact get ahold of the regional planning commitee, or FIRST directly and tell them the story.

Usually the planning comittee has contact info for all the teams who attended.
If not, then FIRST definately has the contact info.

These are long shots, but may be worth it in the end. Good Luck!
