M11 and safety issue?

Has any team encountered a safety issue with using the surgical tubing to gain counterweight.

In my Pre-Engineering class I use our robots as examples of stored energy as well as garage doors and return springs for doors.

Using the surgical tubing is the answer for teams on low budgets as well as teams that have student built robots with little engineering help.

Afterall, FIRST is encouraging large arms by the game design why would they limit the counterbalance with the material teams have used for the past 8 years?

Is this a good rule? Please answer the poll. Let your voice be heard.
