Just because I think it’s possible. That 8 alliance is awesome. Realistically, 1 probably beats 8 and goes to the finals. But an underdog-lover can dream, right?

8 beats 1
2 beats 7
3 beats 6
4 beats 5

8 beats 4
3 beats 2

3 beats 8

Based on the actual alliances:

1: 1114 2056 1334 2337
2: 1310 67 3476 862
3: 469 118 2590 3847
4: 868 987 2826 48
5: 2648 33 3467 4265
6: 359 148 1477 967
7: 3947 624 245 447
8: 195 1538 1241 111

QF:
1>8 (2 matches)
5>4 (3 matches)
2>7 (2 matches)
3>6 (3 matches)

SF:
1>5 (2 matches)
2>3 (4 matches)

F:
1>2 (3 matches)

The 100 points that 1114-2056-1334 can score on the pyramid will be too much for anyone to overcome. 1334 and 1114 will suffer from a couple failed climb attempts, but their autonomous and teleop capability won’t allow their opponents to exploit any shortcomings on the pyramid - they’ll lose a match but stand the victor.

QF1: 1114-2056-1334 will defeat 195-1538-1241 in two matches. The #8 alliance’s scores will be around 200 points, but will be overcome by significant margins (20+ pts) in each match.

QF2: 2648, the #5 alliance captain, will choose to play 33-3467-4265, employing 4265’s FCS capability to support 33 sweeping. They’ll barely defeat the disc-masters of 868-987-2826 in 3 matches, needing 3467’s 30pt climber to top their formidable opponents.

QF3: 1310-67-3476 will prove exceptionally powerful; their versatility of FCS, cycling, and harvesting will ultimately overwhelm 3947-624-245, who will need to counter with a defensive robot. This will be the #7 alliance’s best chance of victory, but won’t be enough to pull off a win. 1310-67-3476 will win in two matches with a total point difference of 80-120 points.

QF4: 359-148-1477 will prove strong, but not strong enough to defeat the alliance of 469-118-2590. 469-118-2590 will win in three tough matches - the closest of the quarterfinals.

SF1: 1114-2056-1334 will again overwhelm a strong alliance in two matches. 33-3467-4265 will score over 200 in each match, but that won’t be enough to defeat 1114-2056-1334, despite 1114 or 1334 suffering a fall from the pyramid.

SF2: These will arguably be the closest elim matches of 2013. 1310-67-3476 will eliminate 469-118-2590, despite suffering a loss and a tie. 469, 118, and 2590’s weakness will be minor inconsistency… a few dropped discs and failing to line up just right will be just enough to cost them a trip to the finals.

Finals: 1114-2056-1334 will finally lose a match, but ultimately their higher potential will carry them to gold. 1310-67-3476 will demonstrate they can beat the #1 alliance, however they’ll only be able to do so once.

Canada will go home proud that they produced 5 of the 6 teams that won the top two events in FRC. Through no fault of the elite Canadian teams, this will never happen again.

5 of the 7, 2337 will be integral to the first alliance when they need a blocker with a powerful drivetrain.
