MARC 2017 (Michigan Advanced Robotics Competition)

Hey everybody in FRC land,

The Michigan Advanced Robotics Competition (MARC) is back. Teams are already registering. Your team still has time to register. This year it is easier than ever to be at the MARC as you can register and make payment at the same website.
This is the link to the MARC website https://monroecountymarc.wixsite.com/marc

Click on the registration tab on the header of the home page and it will take you to the online forms and the payment form. We have a new reduced rate for early bird registration. Early bird registration stops on May 20th.
Looking forward to seeing everybody at the MARC June 22-24 at the Monroe Public High School , 901 Herr Road, Monroe MI.

We, Team 6538, are definitely interested, I will be floating the idea to our team this week. I imagine they will all want to attend, and maybe some new recruits to keep this momentum of our rookie year going!

I’m having issues with the “Volunteer” link, when I click it to volunteer nothing happens. I’ll probably just email the VC directly, but I wanted to let you know in case others have the same issue.

PJ,

The volunteer link should be fixed. Margie Jenkins is assisting with volunteer organizing and it should pop up with an email when you click on link.

Hey CD community, MARC is a great event for teams to either put inexperienced drivers behind the wall, or just to get some more work out of your robot. PLEASE think about coming. They do a outstanding job hosting the event!

Team 1506 is attending for our first time and looking forward to the event. Is there still a social event on Friday evening as the website only had last year’s info?

I would contact Jeff from the committee. See what he has to say. I am not apart of hosting the event, just attending and want everyone to understand its an awesome event!

MARC Teams,
Oh my, it has returned. This coming weekend June 23rd-26th is the Michigan Advanced Robotics Competition (MARC). Many of you have ran the MARC drill before. Our head referee (PJ Lewalski) and our head Judge (Laszlo Hideg) are known and loved by all you roboticists out there. Marjie Jenkins is also returning this year. Oh yes the MARC is on fire for the 11th time.
Even though the majority of you have ran this drill before passing along some information to you is a good thing.

  1. Location Event is the same place as the previous 10 MARCs Monroe Public High School, 901 Herr Road, Monroe MI. 48161
  2. Thursday the 23rd is scheduled set up day. Some students and mentors from the host teams 240 Tempest (Jefferson), 4295 Vi-Borgs (Dundee), 1528 MTR (Monroe) will be on site by noon. Their goal is to set up the pits, lay down the tarps and maybe lay the field carpets. By 3:00 p.m. or earlier the FIM trailer gets unloaded and the field can be set up. Once the field is set up practice matches can begin. Robots can be brought in when the pits are set up.
  3. This should sound really familiar by now since the schedule is the same as last year.
  4. More details can be seen on the website: https://monroecountymarc.wixsite.com/marc go to registration tab and scroll down to the agenda tab.
  5. Unloading can be done from the back of the high school (West Side)
  6. Ice Cream social will be back
  7. Video game night will be back
  8. Silent Auction will happen with a new charity Project Chasing Life check it out at https://www.projectchasinglife.org/contact bring your donations old T-shirts, memorabilia. Check out the website and maybe you will recognize a few people.
  9. There are currently 33 teams registered so there is still room for a few more.
  10. This is going to be fun and the MARC organizing committee is looking forward to seeing you soon.

Good Luck Teams

Anyone know if there will be a Livestream?

I’d like to wish the best of luck to team 5577, The Kinematic Wolves this weekend! You guys were amazing alliance partners in Woodhaven!

Thanks again to everyone who made MARC possible this year! MARC has always been such a valuable experience for 1732 in providing the perfect environment to give newer students a chance to try out pit crew or drive team. Many of our key students and mentors received their first real taste of inspiration at MARC over the years. Plus it is always nice to reconnect with some of our favorite Michigan teams (and see what we are missing being stuck in the regional model).

Thanks to 51 and 2337 for inviting us to join their alliance. 51 obviously has such a storied history and I’ve always admired 2337’s focus on strategy, so we really enjoyed playing along side you both.
