Marriages

A member of our Team, 1662, met a member of team 295 at the Sac Regional in 2006 at they are now married. Anybody know of other marriages between teams.

Rob Jenkins of 201 met Marjie Stager of 47 in 2000, have been married for 4.5 years.

To follow up on the previous post…

Marjie (Stager) and I met when we won the 2000 Great Lakes regional together (teams 201 and 47 also with the help of team 349). We were both drivers for our teams that year. We have been together since October of 2000 and we got married in December of 2004. So we have been married a little over four and a half years.

I have since joined the Chiefs and been a part of this team for the last seven years.

I never thought that this was something that would come out of robotics for me, but it is yet another amazing way that FIRST has changed my life.

Rob also forgot to say that his sister (Emily from 201) met and married her husband (Todd from 27) in FIRST. They are going on 4 year in August.

Wow, I guess I’ve been busy doing the wrong things at regionals.:stuck_out_tongue:

When I started this thread I did not think the responses would be so cool.

Not like I’m anywhere near that time of my life yet, but I’ve always wanted to be an emcee at a regional and propose to my partner at an event. Wacky dream, yeah, but I think it would be too awesome for words.

Maybe even make it just before alliance selection… team chris picone would like to invite team (partner’s name) to take my hand in marriage

You mean pull an Andy?

I know of a couple who are plotting to get married at Worlds just before the final 4

What about marriages ended by FIRST. I know that by Presidents Day my wife is not real happy with me

aww these are so cute and sweet! i love stories like these, they make me melt inside i’m so happy! congratulations to everyone mentioned and i hope more wedding, marriages, and stories like these are to come!!!

I want to do the same thing someday. Maybe not as an MC, but it will happen at FIRST. I just know it.

haha i just read IndySam’s post… that is also true, mentors do spend a great deal of time away from home helping their teams out but their significant others are usually there to back them up no matter how little they see each other so i don’t think FIRST really ends marriages. take Flo and Mrs. Flo for example (our main mentor and his wife on team 461) they have been married for forever and every build season mama Flo lets Flo spend most of his time with us but she is also a big part of the team because of it, she travels with us and comes to some meetings and all the events that we have.

A couple recently got engaged, and they both first met in team 1261’s introduction presentation.

They got engaged roughly towards the end of 2008 and they have plans to get married in the future.

:D.

It’s cool that FIRST brings people together that otherwise may have never met. I knew of some inter-team marriages or other relationships started by FIRST, but I didn’t realize there were so many.

Do they have to wait until their team makes the final four?

At least the ceremony would be shorter than some of the speeches.

Then there’s this: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=75714

This is a side topic but Indy’s comment triggered a thought.

My marriage has been and continues to be strengthened by my involvement with FIRST. My husband has willingly housed the team trailer in his store warehouse and the company has supported the team for several years as a sponsor. He also has supported me, encouraging me during days of frustration, depression, and doubt - when I’ve wondered if it is worth it. He has had the wisdom to say, yes, it is worth it, keep going. It is because of the students. He knows that the impact on the students is valuable and the experiences they have will serve them well throughout their life.

Apologies for going off track.

Two members of team 2337 got married last summer, so not two teams, but still a marriage.

It wasn’t to a FIRSTer, but I got engaged on the Friday evening of the 2008 Philadelphia Regional. :yikes:

We won the regional and Chairman’s the following day.

Not a bad weekend.
