I woke up this morning feeling healthy and well. That’s often not the case after a robotics competition. The event I volunteered at (Lake Superior Regional) had a strict mask policy and there was nearly 100% compliance on the field and in the pits.
My experience is of course anecdotal, but 1000 anecdotal experiences is data. If you caught something at the event last weekend you’re likely feeling sick now. That makes today a good day to poll about the relationship between mask policies at events to post event cold/flu/crud among attendees.
Yes I realize this poll is likely to be affected by people with strong views on masks voting for the corresponding I’m healthy option.
Mask effectiveness at events
My event required masks and I’m sick.

My event didn’t require masks and I’m sick.

I wasn’t at a week one event but really need to vote!
I’ve heard of one case of post-event Covid (positive test result yesterday) from a student at Northern Lights. With an incubation period of 2-14 days, this thread may be a little premature
It has not been long enough since an event for someone to conclude they did not get sick from attending the event.
This is actually one of the big reasons COVID spread is so hard to control - people just aren’t used to delays of 3 to 10 days between an action and it’s consequence.
The event started on Thursday and ended on Saturday. We’re currently 4 to 6 days from exposure, that’s actually right in the zone for Covid to start showing symptoms in the majority of cases. That’s why I waited until today to post this.
