Match Videos

Does anyone know where I can find match videos for the regionals that occurred this weekend?

Here is a link to Kettering Videos. Excellent full field shot and high quality. Thanks Enginerds 2337

thanks!

I was wondering if anyone would be able to share what system FIM, or WatchFIRSTnow is using to get these matches posted to youtube in real time. Is there a volunteer assigned to this duty, or is it some type of automated system?

The videos were shot from a GoPro mounted by Team 2337. My best guess was someone from 2337 posting them on youtube after filming.

A recent thread is http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...0&postcount=63

I did see the post regarding the use of a GoPro, I was more wondering about their set up to get the videos onto YouTube so quickly and what went into that set up.
So many regionals take forever to get uploaded or get lost forever, this appears to be an awesome system that hopefully could be used else where.

Hopefully someone from 2337 will come across this thread and enlighten us all.

Please tell me there is a video somewhere of FLR SM 2-1!!! And then karthik’s intro for the following match. I think those are probably some of the greatest moments of the regionals so far!

Thank you for all the complements on the Video Archiving, we really wanted to improve the quality this year.

We use a GoPro Camera (www.gopro.com) mounted to a painters pole (http://www.amazon.com/Mr-Long-Arm-3212-Extension/dp/B00004YUPO) that is in a deck umbrella stand (http://www.amazon.com/Adams-8129-48-3750-Umbrella-Base-White/dp/B000GD54H0) filled with sand (simple and effective). We then use an Elgato Game Capture HD (http://www.gamecapture.com/) to record the feed from the GoPro (at 720p via HDMI Cable). The Elgato software has the ability to upload to YouTube builtin, it also lets us record and upload the videos at the same time. Our old system we could only do one at a time. Then we have a team member that sits at a laptop and clicks record right before they start and stop at the end of the match. Then they click upload load to YouTube (very simple).

The only downside to our system is that we dont get the “Real Time” Scoring in the video feed but we are trying to look at ways to do this.

Personally, I think this is something that FIRST should do at all of the Events. They want to “Connect A Million Minds” or get involved with “Social Media” then having all of the match videos on YouTube is a great place to start.

I’m wondering if it would be possible to use this system to hook into the video feed that is provided to the field, the one that is shown on the overhead screens with the real time scoring inlaid instead of using a separate camera set up. Any thoughts on the possibility if this?

I’m really interested in expanding the video coverage of FIRST matches, i hate that every year so many teams and matches go unseen just because of the difficultly of setting a system up. If anyone wants to work on this with me shoot me a PM.

How do you guys handle bandwidth? Is the venue providing wireless for your consumption or do you have to purchase it? I imagine streaming would eat through cell data plans.

The problem with the video feed from the field is that their are to many closeup shots and shots of things we don’t need in a archive (driver reactions etc). We want the footage for scouting and team improvement reasons. Also, at most events it is hard to get an HDMI output from the field feed, most times it is only composite video.

We want to try and split the FMS real time scoring feed and overlay it on our GoPro Camera feed, but that requires equipment we can not afford by our team.

We work with the event coordinator to get a hard line for Video Archiving.

Are you also webcasting the event using this same set up or is that something totally separate?

Here are all of 610’s matches at BAE: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLk5eW4p_ePO-vTnC9ZQUJrU-GgOnqGH2q

The rest of the eliminations can be found on 610’s youtube page.

Thanks for the response.

I was more referring to streaming (YouTube), however. Is this handled live or are you archiving to YouTube after the fact?

610 was amazing at the BAE GSR!
We played with them and against them.
It was funner being with them than against them, see semi-final matches one and two where we lost.

Our hats off to such a great team and a nice robot!

The YouTube videos are uploaded right after the match and take about 3-6 mins to upload depending on the bandwidth of the event.

We have not looked at doing the streaming because typically in Michigan Code Red has done that.

Just to let everyone know who’s interested in the Orlando Regional at UCF… there’s an on demand system that will have matches posted on YouTube shortly after each match. It uses a combo of 9 different camera sources (one provided by NASA) to show every bit of action on the field.

The Orlando Regional Planning Committee is pleased to announce the Orlando Regional: On Demand. Matches at the Orlando Regional will be edited and upload to the following YouTube Channel within 30 minutes of match play.

Thank you to Team 1604 and 1065 for providing the equipment and staff to support this effort.
