Max Planetary gearbox substitute

Team 8024 was hoping to use neo-mortars with max-planetary gearbox carriages

To rotate are arm for this year’s competition however rev robotics has them out of stock till March and we were wondering if there were any substitutes that our team could use instead

The estimated ratio we need is 60:1 (please let us know if this is incorrect)

And the arm will be 4ft long weight about 25 pounds 10 pounds will be on the far end of the arm. If there’s any other information I can give which can help let me know

(these are all estimate so if anything sounds far off please let me know)

Here are some estimated calculations for that loading with 2 NEOs at 60:1. It doesn’t look unreasonable, but something like 120:1 overall ratio might serve you better. For an arm, it can be very beneficial to do a chain reduction for the last stage. The maximum ratio you can get out of that will depend heavily on how large a sprocket you can fit on your arm, and this will also impact your desired planetary ratio.

The AndyMark CIM Sport (which also works with NEOs) is a very robust planetary gearbox with a variety of gear ratios and is currently available.

Check out the CIM Sport on Andymark. If you know the gear ratio you need, one of these should work well. CIM Sport Gearbox - AndyMark, Inc

Looks like they have a 64:1

Edit: Gordon beat me to it (and provided some sound engineering advice as well).
