I’m sure he’ll answer this if he can read it before it’s off the portal page. 5 people post replies while you are posting one yourself. It’s really amazing.
If i remember vB correctly, once there is so much traffic on the site that the server starts to overload, it will automatically shut down the boards for a few minutes. (Just like it did right before 9:00 PM)
Therefore, I’d have to say that whatever the max is now, it will be that way for a while.
PS: To overload a VPS, you have to have a hell of a lot of requests in a very short time. I guess that’s what happens when you have 800 teams!
We get 256 MB of ram on our VPS.
We used all but 64k and then I had to add that session limit the forums until I work something out. 75 users at a time until further notice.
I guess that when FIRST says that we now have 800 teams they wern’t kidding.
PS: Does it turn away new users, or all? If it lets the current users stay (what i’m thinking) and just turns away the new sessions, then I’d like to remind people to not just keep refreshing their session to continue to have access. Once you’ve seen what you want, leave and let others get access.
Looks like there’s a break in the massive flood. - My guess it there will be another surge at about 10:00 PM, get ready.
NTS: I know that we arn’t supposted to carry on lots of posts quickly, but it’s so… tempting. - There is so much to say!
Sorry Brandon, it’ll be a Late Night
edit: Now, if everyone had a 56k like me, there would never be a problem like this.
edit,edit: ohh… Getting a little daring Brandon arn’t we? 85 users?
Da… I have the new img too many pics in your post thing. I for some reason like to have a lot of smilies when i’m trying to be funny. The limit doesn’t help me.
This is amazing…this forum has almost beat a HUGE forum with the max people record. The other forum I occupy is linuxnewbie.org which hosts 45k+ members…their max is 176 people. CD only has a fraction of the members and we’re at 150. I’m impressed (I guess linuxnewbie.org doesn’t have very many usage-spikes…no major opening events in the world of linux …maybe the 2.6 kernel release…hmm)
So when is CD going to beat the ARS Technica forums? They have 800+ users online right now
