this morning, my brother and I were watching TV before we went to school, and he went to turn down the volume, but accidentally hit the reset button :expressionless:

(this is on our actual TV remote, not the cable box remote, because we got a new cable box the other day, and it isnt synced to change the volume on the tv yet)

the TV company did a horrible job at making this remote, because the buttons along the right side of the remote go as follows:

[on]
[some device slector]
[3]
[6]
[9]
[empty space]
[volume up]
[volume down]
[RESET] <---- WHY PUT THIS RIGHT NEXT TO THE VOLUME DOWN BUTTON???

okay, soā€¦
My brother hit the reset buttonā€¦and now whenever we turn on the tv, it shows a blue screen telling you to plug in all the cables, then hit the [channel up] buttonā€¦
everything is already plugged in, so I hit the channel up button, and it started cycling through all the ANALOG channels to see if anything was plugged inā€¦

after cycling through channel 1 through 99 twice, it goes to a black screen that says that no analog inputs can be detected :\

ANALOG TV DOESNT EVEN EXIST ANYMORE!!!

anyone got any ideas?
we already tried hitting EVERY other button on the remote. the only 2 that do anything are [channel up] and [power]

and I already tried unplugging everything, and plugging it back inā€¦
nothing

any ideas?

OK, so you were fooled by the digital changeover. Most cable systems will continue to be analog for many years. They are digital on the cable but that is a different system. Until you purchase HD cable, the box still produces an analog signal most often on channel 3 or 4. The ā€œresetā€ could be a reset for the cable box or the TV. It is clear that you ran the auto channel scan in the second part of your post. It should only find the cable box if it is turned on. What you may have done is reset the remote. It is likely a programmable remote designed to switch to the TV standard it is used with. If it was given to you with the cable box last week, the installer made the choice for you at installation. The website for your cable system is likely to have a an area to help you learn the operation of the remote and how to reprogram when needed. Check there first for instruction if none were left by the installer.

Look on the back of the remote, find the model number and manufacturerā€™s name, and post them.

Or take a picture of the remote so we can see what it looks like.

Itā€™s pretty much impossible to help you without knowing what youā€™re working on. The ā€œread the manualā€ advice is the best place to start.
