Does anyone make a Cheat Sheet, or Quick Reference Sheet may be a better description, on launch day once the problem gets released?
I am looking to use an old one as a template for this season.
For example, we know there will be a maximum weight and frame dimension; There may be obstacles on the field that we want to fit under; or the height of elements to climb onto.
I am thinking of making a generic spreadsheet with fill-in-the-blank fields to quickly capture this key information. Then this Quick Reference Guide will be available to our designers as we work on our robot.
So if anyone has done this for previous years, would you post them? I am looking for common/customarily needed information, and how you put in rules specific to that year’s challenge.
Thank you for sharing. We do something similar with our “Strategic Design” plan. But what I was suggesting is something that is summed up on one page and has more to do with robot design.
But perhaps what I am suggesting is fairly simple. A list of the relevant dimensions for this seasons game:
Frame size
Extension Limits
Extension Limits during End Game
Obstacle dimensions (to get under them, over, or through.)
Weight limits
Dimensions of openings
Dimensions of climb/end game challenges.
Time limits (for Auto, game, and End Game)
Don’t know if I am missing anything else from that brainstorm.
Actually, writing all of that out helped me clarify my own thoughts on the issue!
I like what Liam’s got and will probably take some components of that to add to our document.
Right now, ours is more focused on the design calculations and communicating important information to other groups.
which fuses to use
which PDH slots are for which device
the ratio between sensor measurement and actual motion
which buttons on the controller move the elevator
etc
We’ve taken the parts we’ve found most useful from other teams documents and merged them into one document. Along the way, I’ve lost track of all the teams we’ve taken content from.
