Meltybrain?

since it is not explicitly illegal, could a meltybrain be viable in this completion? (Likely no with the technical limitations, but it is a fun idea to explore)

it does not break any rules off the top of my head, but why?

I don’t see how it would be illegal, but I struggle to see how you’d score points. And if your answer is “counter-rotating turret”, how you’d make your battery last all match.

purely defensive robots are always part of the completion on some level, this idea is just a way to theoretically take defense to an extreme. Functional mealtybrains like Nuts 2 also combined this capability with normal driving functions, meaning a FIRST robot using the technique could still do other things (in theory).

No, you can’t use what I’m calling the “inverse Battlebots argument” and say that since you don’t have an active weapon, you’re not actually damaging the opponent. That’s not how FRC works.

It reminds me of an exceptional quote of a Dave Lavery quote .

As always, the viability question boils down to “why is it better than the alternatives?”

Until such comparisons are made, there’s not much to be debated or argued.
