Mid comp design change?

Hi, our team was wondering how much change is possible with the 2020 build season. What I’m asking is, how much leniency is there with this year’s ruling and how much of your robot you can change during competition season. Our team is trying to decide if we should redo our current climbing mechanism to something that is smaller, more compact, and weighs less.
How much of our robot can we change while still being within legal limitations.

If you could cite the exact ruling that would be much appreciated.
Tanks in advance.

I3 seems relevant:

I3. Bring it all to Inspection. At the time of Inspection, the OPERATOR CONSOLE and the
ROBOT must be presented with all MECHANISMS (including all COMPONENTS of each
MECHANISM), configurations, and decorations that will be used on the ROBOT in
MATCHES without re-inspection (per I4) and may not exceed 150 lbs. (~68kg) (note that
while up to 150 lbs. of ROBOT MECHANISMS may be inspected together, the ROBOT
configuration used in a MATCH may not violate R5). The OPERATOR CONSOLE and
exceptions listed in R5 are not included in this weight

Sorry, I want clear enough. We are going to be doing these changes after the competition because we are going to a second regional.

I think it is legal to radically alter the design of your robot between competitions and within a competition. Take a look at 900’s makeover at Champs in 2015:
Before
During and After

Also, to take it further back, 33 completely changed their above-chassis design at the 2009 World Championship from a shooter to a double-wide spitter.

Thank you for this insight. We just wanted clarification about the ruling.

Have a good day, and good luck at your competition.
