MidKnight Mayhem IV - June 25, 2016

FIRST Team 1923: The MidKnight Inventors
of the West Windsor-Plainsboro Regional School District
would like to announce the return of MidKnight Mayhem!

MidKnight Mayhem IV
When: June 25th, 2016
Where: West Windsor-Plainsboro HS North
90 Grovers Mill Rd, Plainsboro NJ

Event registration will be $200.
(Send us a message if you’re interested in bringing a pre-rookie).

Registration for both teams & volunteers can be found on www.midknightmayhem.org - once teams have registered through our form, we will follow up with payment information. Expect most volunteer assignments in late May/early June.

In addition to up to 36 teams playing FIRST Stronghold, we will also be hosting FLL demos and a NJ FTC Scrimmage, as well as inviting some local groups that aren’t just about robots (We partner with Attitudes in Reverse among other local exhibitors – and, c’mon…who doesn’t love puppies?!)

If you have suggestions or recommendations for us, please feel free to leave them here in this thread, or email [email protected]. We’re also available on Twitter and Facebook.

We hope you’ll help spread the word - we traditionally have a few teams from out of town, and we’re happy to help them make accommodations. For any event logistics or team travel questions, send me a PM here on Chief or email [email protected] .

**13 teams have registered so far, with 23 spots open! **
Unlike previous years, we will not add a team-list to the published roster until they have paid - we anticipate a bigger wait list than usual with the loss of Monty Madness in our area. If that’s an issue for your team, please send me a message so we can work something out.

We hope you’ll join us for some Medieval-Themed Mayhem!

1257 is registered! MidKnight Mayhem is always a fun time, we’re looking forward to it!

Congrats to 1923 on your MAR Championship Chairman’s Award! I’m amazed by all the things your team does to grow FIRST and support other teams. You really earned it!

It is too late of an event for us to attend sadly but I will be going as a volunteer. See everyone there.

Signed up! Looking forward to playing with everyone again!

Looking forward to volunteering again, always a fun event.

As of today, here is a list of the teams who are registered and paid for MidKnight Mayhem!

The event capacity is 36, but we are still waiting on payments to come in before opening up spots to teams on the waitlist (that will start June 2nd). If you have sent payment but don’t see yourself on the list, please send us an email.

Are there any rule changes?
Alliance selection, mayhem boulder, mayhem defense(s) …
mentor dodge-boulder matches. (but not with real boulders) :yikes:

I’ve been meaning to find time to come down to this event for quite a few years now. Excited to be heading down with 1511 to play with all the great MAR teams again. See you all next week!

And our rule changes:
MidKnight Mayhem IV: Rule Updates and Clarifications

3.1.4 In Qualification MATCHES, each TOWER starts the MATCH with eight (8) STRENGTH. In Playoff MATCHES, each TOWER starts the MATCH with ten (10) STRENGTH.

5.5.10 DEFENSES will be static for every match. Their order is:

  1. Low Bar 2. Cheval De Frise 3. Rockwall 4. Ramparts 5. Moat

R5 ROBOT weight must not exceed 125 lbs. There will be no formal weigh-in, but the Head Referee may request a weight check for any ROBOT suspected to be in violation.

G21 A ROBOT contacting carpet in the opponent’s SECRET PASSAGE may not contact opposing ROBOTS who are in contact with the carpet in the SECRET PASSAGE, regardless of who initiates the contact.

G38 Driving over or getting stuck on a BOULDER while holding another BOULDER will not be a violation of G38.

5.4.1 The ALLIANCE selection process consists of three (3) rounds. Selections will follow the draft order of: 1-8, 8-1, 1-8. In the Quarterfinal MATCHES, all four ROBOTS must play in either the first or second MATCH. In the Semifinal and Final MATCHES, the LINEUP is at the discretion of the ALLIANCE CAPTAIN.

“The MAYHEM Rule”: At the start of each MATCH, two additional brightly-colored BOULDERS will be placed on the center line. These will be called the MAYHEM BOULDERS. ROBOTS may score these boulders in either the HIGH or LOW TOWER GOALS. When a MAYHEM BOULDER is scored, it will be counted twice. (i.e. two low goals, when the MAYHEM BOULDER is scored in the low goal, two high goals when the MAYHEM BOULDER is scored in the high goal.) However, after a MAYHEM BOULDER is scored, it cannot be re-entered into play. MAYHEM BOULDERS behind the CASTLE WALL will not count towards the potential penalties for BOULDER possession behind the CASTLE WALL.

Really looking forward to this weekend! MKM is one of my favorite events.

Thank you for implementing a static defense set (and removing the type C’s).

The trailer is pack. New drivers got some practice and we are ready to play.

Qualification match schedule.

Alliance selection and results:

  1. 225 1640 2607 4954 (W)
  2. 5895 869 4454 303 (SF)
  3. 1511 75 5624 555 (QF)
  4. 806 316 4575 5420 (QF)
  5. 369 1923 2590 224 (SF)
  6. 2016 1218 193 293 (F)
  7. 1257 223 1676 484 (QF)
  8. 4361 11 3142 4653 (QF)

4012 declined the third selection of #8.

Midknight Mayhem was really fun as always. The competition and event staff were awesome. I feel that the rule changes enhanced the game and optimized it for an offseason environment. I hope other offseason events choose to implement static defenses as well (same lineup as this one–it’s good)

Thanks to 1640, 2607, and 4954 for playing with us, and 1923 for hosting!

Thank you Midknight mayhem for a great tournament. Thanks to our partners 225 ( a team number and a unique score ) 2607 and 4954 for being excellent partners. We were very surprised to see you both available " for the picking ". Thanks again Midknight Inventors and all of the volunteers for a excellent day:)

Huge thanks again to Libby, 1923, and all of the amazing volunteers for another great MKM. We’ve finally posted our full-field footage from the event on the 1676 YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLPUJJPXRAlETUaxbhw0pSr-uWnywcwUOw. We were testing out a new system, so unfortunately the first six Qualification matches are poor quality and the first six Quarterfinal matches weren’t recorded properly, but the rest of the Qualification and Playoff matches, along with the Alliance Selections and Awards Ceremony, are there. Enjoy!

The results are on The Blue Alliance. I’d like to give a shout out to Howard Cohen for providing FMS output and the TBA crew for pushing it to the site.
