Midwest High Score 470 Video

High Score at Midwest; 470. In the last 9 seconds of the match, the #3 alliance of 1405, 3620, 4213 managed to score 290 points. It was intense.

I watched that match live. It was insane. It’s happened a few time in Indiana too. It’s amazing how 1 gear and 3 climbs in the last 10 seconds can impact the match…

I was a driver in that match on the opposing alliance and thought that there was no way we were winning as the match progressed. With 15 seconds remaining and 3 successful climbs we had a 235 to 180 lead. After seeing three climbs on the other alliance I thought we’d lost by about 50 but looked up and saw a 200+ deficit. It was a crazy occurrence to be a part of!

That alliance (1405-3620-4213) may have had the horsepower to knock off PWNAGE AND Rolling Thunder AND Bomb Squad AND Titanium had they secured three climbs in the semis, which would’ve been a very impressive feat. I hate to see three climb-capable robots lose to failed climbs, but regardless flexed their gearing muscles and showed how good a low fuel, four rotor alliance can be.

It was an honor to be selected by your team, Alex. Those QF4 matches were really something to watch, even from way up in nosebleeds. Some parents who are new to our team were asking, “it is always like this? We can’t take much more excitement!”

On a side note, I want repeat what Mark said in another thread on Midwest – our team feels terrible about breaking down in the semis, when a win would have secured you a Wildcard.

I really hope that 1405 will somehow get a CMP invitation. Yours is a very strong team, on the field and off. If you were in a District, your combined performance at Finger Lakes and Midwest would be valued at 74 points – clearly above the qualification mark, with a good shot at making CMP if you could compete at a DCMP. I am among those who think the Regionals leave too many strong teams out of CMP.

Quarter Final 4 Match 1 set the high score not only for elimination matches, but for the entire regional. This would be broken by our alliance again in the next match. (watch it here! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QA89wtVciWo)

Team 1405 was ranked 3rd overall, and 1st in Rotor points.
Our alliance consisted of team 1405, team 3620, and team 4213.

It was an awesome alliance, thank you for selecting us and I hope we work together again.

What a great video! I love seeing and hearing the match from your pilot’s perspective. And the communication during the match is awesome! Well done! Thank you for posting it!

John

This happened in Finals 1 at Perry…that was close…

I believe th HV Regional Final 2 score of 495 is still the highest for final matches

Being able to put up the highest score… then beating our own high score was amazing. A big thank you to both of our alliance partners from 4213. It was just to bad that we suffered from a broken rachet our last match together. We felt like we could of gone all the way!

Really liked this video. With both the pilot cam and other shots you guys gave a new perspective to this match.

Anyways thanks 1405 and 3620 for making an awesome alliance! And we hope to work with both of you in the future.

Alex. Thanks for sharing that video. what an awesome example of 2 pilots working in perfect harmony!!! I am going to shamelessly steal this and start having my pilot wear a GOPRO!!! Hope to see you guys soon…

Adding a GoPro to the pilot, have a camera on the side lines and most of the time one on me or the driver has provided endless feedback after the matches. We go and watch the video to see the mistakes or how to improve for the next round. Also, that’s the only true way to get the information of how many gears and all our robot has done. The scouting numbers from teams are not close to our video feed. It’s been interesting and I hope to continue it in the future, definitely a major plus in my book.

The FIM Howell semis put up a clean 498… Not bad in week 5 - Take a look.
