For those of you not at the Duel today (or if you were at the Duel and just wanted another look), they will be playing a tribute video to Mike Wade. Mike and his giant NASA trailer toted the field, scoring system, and sound system to virtually every off-season event in the Northeastern US. Mike was also heavily involved with NASA’s robotics education program.
Anyway, the video they are playing today is available on YouTube in the FIRST Community. Link Below.
I posted this on the YouTube site, and wanted to post it here as well for others to see the impact Mike Wade has had–and not only on people who have met him!:
That is a truly inspiring video. While I don’t think I’ve met Mike at any FIRST event, it is evident that he was a very giving man who dedicated much of his time to FIRST and its youth, and definitely contributed so much to the lives of others. Seeing this video makes me want to celebrate his life, along with the lives of all FIRSTers.
There’s a star shining brightly in the heavens and looking down on all of us crazy FIRSTers and your video reminded us of who is lighting that star. Thank you.
At the Duel today, we played this video right before the Mike Wade Duel Master Volunteer award was announced. I know this video helped me remember what a terrific and kind person Mike Wade was and how much he will be missed.
Thanks to Jake for putting this together in time for us to use today!
This was a wonderful moment and a very fitting way to honor a man we’ve all gotten so much from. It also reminded me of how much I really miss Mike. The best way I know to honor him is to carry on with the mission the same way he did - with great dignity, humility, and always putting the students first. Namaste, Mike
Wow, that was really powerful. This video showed a lot of what he did, but I bet it didn’t even show half of it. I didn’t know him, but now I am going to miss him.
