Minibot Motor Issues

In http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lRtC8wBUa0 video, the Tetrix motors are connected directly to a ~1cm axle. According to our calculations at the 154 rpm that the motors output, the minibot should move at about 6 cm/sec. The only way we can think of to make the minibot climb that fast is by removing the gear. Is this Legal?

In addition, we recently found out that there are two different types of Tetrix motors, 739083 and 739023. What is the difference between these two types of motors.

We have a Tetrix 12 volt gear motor product ID W739083. that they got in our minibot KOP & the positive connector that gives power to the motor came out of its slot. they still have the metal piece.

I don’t have both motors to compare, but I would expect them to have the same power specs. Likely they have different frame mounts to the transmission plate. That plate has slotted holes to allow for different bolt spacings.

You can repair Tetrix motors per a team update with matching components. Transmissions can be modified, and adapters made to replace gears on the motor output shaft.
