This will be Team 4539’s first time attending MRI and we are excited to participate! Good luck to all teams participating! Looks like a great team list!
We have a ton of new volunteers coming in to be trained at the event too, including a bunch of robot inspectors! While we aren’t doing formal inspections, if a group of them come by and ask to do an inspection, it’s a great chance for some of your younger students to gain some experience going though an inspection, while they do the same! Of course, if you’re too busy or have a match soon, politely decline and they’ll move on to another team We’ll have an experienced inspector or an LRI with each group, and we very rarely make teams change anything at the event - I can only think of a couple of safety-related issues over the years, and none took very long to fix.
I will be working the event although i am not affiliated with the host school. I do not think there will be a practice field unless something has changed from years past. Most off season events are not able to provide that luxury. Just putting an excellent off season / training event like MRI on is a MASSIVE undertaking!!
You’re a rookie team this upcoming season, right? Just coming to an event like this is going to give you a leg up! Are you bringing another team’s practice bot to compete with?
There won’t be a practice field - there simply isn’t enough room for one! I’m one of the Lead Robot Inspectors for the event - inspectors wear yellow hats, and the LRI’s also have a black vest. I can help with any questions or assistance you guys need, and I’ll be sure to stop by and introduce myself in the morning!
We have cleared it with the organizers and we will be bringing our practice robot. They said they will try to have a room available for people to drive it if they have not had a chance to drive a robot or are interested in seeing how this may drive different than their machine. Just FYI.
Note that these use only in-season data and have no additional off-season correction. This means they are a fair bit overconfident, but should give a general idea of which teams we can expect to do well.
Looks like a pretty stacked event! I’m going to try out scorekeeping for the first time so we’ll see how that goes.
Yeah, it has pre-rookies set to the average 2018 rookie strength. I’ve heard this pre-rookie is something special though, so it’d be cool to see them beat the odds.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching the event as a spectator. This was definitely the most competitive non-State Champs off-season event MN has probably ever seen. It was ridiculous how evenly matched every alliance was
Thanks to 2846 for hosting. You put on a great event.
