As far as cots are concerned… market place seems pretty saturated. The design is pretty open source though and has been simplifying over the years (see Average Joes) Should be easy to pull off with access to a router (or send-cut-send/fabworks), higher quality 3d printing and a few months over the off season. Perhaps @Sam_Dare or @Mark_Wasserman could comment on manufacturing and time requirements.
