[MKCAD] 2024 Support Thread

When I insert the MaxPlanetary gearbox, I’m unable to move it from the origin. I think this is a new thing; I don’t recall this before (maybe there’s a mate to origin or something in the ref doc?). Also, with the “None” output option, there a round shaft sticking out of the empty hex socket. Thanks!

UPDATE: Nevermind; it seems like it may just be an Onshape problem. I had another part do the same thing, and then later it was fine. I rebooted but the issue still occurs intermittently.

Apologies if this is covered elsewhere, but I am trying to use the MKCad Inserter in an assembly and it does not insert the parts. The tab on the right is there and the parts in the tab show up, but when I drag or click or press Insert, the element blinks but nothing gets inserted.
Firefox 121.0.1, Enhanced Tracking Off for Onshape
Restarted Firefox, uninstalled/reinstalled MKCad, no improvement.

The inserter inserts parts into the assembly at the origin. could there be another part in your assembly that is hiding those parts?

If the part shows up in the list of instances on the left side in your assembly view, it is in the assembly. Click on it and the drag handle will show up on that part. You can then use the drag handle to move the part somewhere where it’s not hidden anymore.

The part is not showing up in the list of instances.

You can’t drag and drop from the app. You click it, it loads, and it shows up at the origin.

After talking with 177, it seems that the issue is related to their document somehow. The MKCAD app works for other documents, but not their robot document. We’re looking into it.

OK, thanks. I can still just insert from the public MKCad docs for now.

Not sure if this is the right spot – Any chance we can get VexPro 217-6194 added? Thanks

This should be available now.

Any chance the configurable MK4I Neo Vortex configuration can get fixed? Any time I import a module, it looks like this.

Would be awesome if AndyMark’s standard gears could be added. They have some sizes not available at other places. Same with their symmetric sprockets.

Thanks to the MKCAD team for all of the work you do! My team would not have been able to design our robot the past few years without this library giving us such easy access to FRC-related parts. This library saved us, at a time when the team’s main design mentor (yours truly) came from a software background and didn’t have any CAD experience whatsoever, and neither did any of the students.

One request. It’s been pretty easy to plop things in from the official field model, but it would be nice to have the 2024 field elements available directly in MKCAD. As far as I can tell, only the 2023 field elements are available, which aren’t nearly as useful this year.

Once again, thanks for all your help.

I noticed an issue on the MK4i for the 10-32 above frame configuration. It has the bottom plate rotated wrong and fastened 7 and 13 are over-defined.

Edit: also just noticed the rio 2 had faulty topography.

Not sure I can do the actual, but I asked @Kevin_Thorp if I could port his simplified versions into MKCAD as they have been really useful to my team.

This should be fixed :+1:

Our main robot document is having problems with the MKCad app (thanks for looking into that). In the meantime, we are just Inserting from the Public MKCad documents.

Unfortunately there are a lot of copies and non-official MKCad documents.
Fortunately, I have a label in my documents that has sorted out the “real” MKCad.

Unfortunately, I have no recollection of how I put it there. :innocent:

Can anyone tell me how to do that, so our newer team members can add it?

This is a problem with the original CAD file from NI unfortunately

WCP-0416, the GreyT telescope gearbox has all parts unmated and ungrouped.

I’ve added a configurable NOTE to the Game Elements section of MKCAD. You can configure the amount of side compression and it will approximate the shape of the compressed NOTE as an ellipse. It also has mate connectors for easier mating.

5 inches of compression

2 inches of compression

0 inches of compression (round)
