Does anyone know if there is a rule against, creating your own W3C Valid CSS and HTML 4.01 images. I know there are rules like that for the FIRST logo, and was just wondering if there were similar rules for the W3C images. I would like to replace the ones they give you with ones that are a bit more stylish and fit the scheme of my site.
Personally, I dont think the w3c is going to come after you if you make your own button. However, you might get docked a couple points for messing up the FIRST logo.
A lot of people, myself included, often don’t follow this rule. You will find some very popular, and de facto standardized smaller ones all over blogs. I just make sure to maintain the integrity of the actual W3C logo.
Edit: I should also mention that some people seem to think it necessary to include this big ugly sticker (or a modification thereof) to denote their site as W3C-compliant. Why not just use text to say that your site uses valid HTML and CSS, or even not say it at all? There really is no reason.
