More Dlink problems

I am really starting to get mad at this thing. I have spent many hours trying to get this thing to work. The latest problem is it will not reset and I have a feeling that it is bricked. The power light keeps blinking and when it is set to bridge mode, no orange light appears. Also, when I try going to http://192.168.0.51 the emergency web sever shows up. I followed the steps provided by FIRST (http://www.usfirst.org/uploadedFiles/Robotics_Programs/FRC/Game_and_Season__Info/2011_Assets/Kit_of_Parts/How_to_fix_the_Emergency_Web_Server.pdf) to fix that 3 times but it did not work.

I have spent probably around 7 or 8 hours just trying to fix the stupid thing with no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The “emergency web server” page is letting you know that the router has lost its firmware and needs to be reloaded. Concentrate on getting the dap1522_fw_121.bin file uploaded to the router correctly. At what point in the directions does it not do what it should? What does it do instead?

I did it step by step and it seems to work. I uploaded the file to the emergency server and it told me to wait so I did. It said it was complete and to restart the device. So I turned the power off. Waited like a minute. Plugged it back in, then tried going to http://192.168.0.50 again but the emergency web server is still there.

My guess is that if the firmware is corrupted, it will go back to the emergency webserver. Have you tried redownloading the firmware? Tried a different computer? Tried a different ethernet cable?

I downloaded the file FIRST told me to. Unless there is a different firmware to download, I reinstalled it like 5 times. I have tried the laptop and 2 other computers. Same thing happens and I have used an ethernet cable as well as a crossover cable. Same thing happens.

I read somewhere that since the power light is blinking and not solid, the dlink in “bricked”. I’m not 100% sure what that means but I know it’s bad. Anyone know how to fix a bricked dlink? I’ve looked but found nothing.

Right, and you’ve told us that it failed to work multiple times. The question Joe asked was this: have you tried redownloading it? It’s possible that the original downloaded file got mangled somehow.

yes I did multiple times. We have concluded that the dlink is bricked and are going to get a new one unless someone knows how to fix a bricked dlink. Nothing we have tried seems to work
