Following a long tradition of these types of threads coming and going, wanted to start a new one because of a research project I am doing that ended up coming with a fun name I wanted to share:
Competed “once” in 2013 at Silicon Valley, although it seems like a registered team, that never actually showed up because they have no matches and are gone in FIRSTs website
My all time favorite team name by far is (and probably always will be) Team 4008 - Theodore Roosevelt’s Discord Haircut. They compteted in 2012-2015 and 2018-2020 before making their triumphant return this season, and I certainly hope this time will be more permanent
Some newly registered teams names this year:
4237 Lance-A-Bot has a second team, 10473 Lance-B-Bot
5892 Energy Heros now has 10341 Energy Sidekicks
10302 in TX and 10312 in NC have (I assume) independently named themselves Byte Force.
10300 is Obama FRC (thanks, Obama FRC)
10148 is kevin dougherty
I’ve always found 5199 Robot Dolphins from Outer Space to be a funny name
Typically I don’t associate Dolpins and Space as two related things
Shout out to 8298 the Mighty Morphing Banana Slugs.

FRC 8702 - Invincible Tyrannosaurus Warrior is one of my personal favorites
For a while, FRC 935 - RaileRobotics (as in the Newton HS Railers) was listed as starting a team called 10271 - Crazy Train
23872 Hippopotomonstrosesquipedalian Tetartocephalic BrainSTEM Robotics Team
I believe it’s still not the longest name in FIRST.
You can’t just leave us on a cliffhanger like that.
At 76 letters, it is 6 more than Hippopotomonstrosesquipedalian Tetartocephalic BrainSTEM Robotics Team

The sheer aura coming off “OBAMA FRC” is enough to make even the strongest alliance shake. I will watch their career with great interest.
Personally cannot wait to get absolutely dumpstered by an undefeated true rookie team at champs, which is the likely outcome for us all now that they’ve arrived.

Im particularly fond of 9696, the Hami Yankatrons, from Alexander Hamilton high School in Los Angeles. That name has stuck in my head like a brainworm all this year.
