Most interesting matches of 2017

Please post the most interesting matches here whether it be a high score, 4 rotors, or something you just found cool.

One of the semifinal series in South Florida, between the 1st alliance (led by 6001) and 4th (led by us, 3653). 6001’s alliance won the first match, we won the second. We tied the third game. According to the rulebook, ties are broken by specific stats in that match. However, both alliances did exactly the same thing, so a match had to be played to decide the winner. Believe it or not, the tie breaker match tied. The same exact way. I don’t know what the chances are of two ties in a row are, but I imagine theyre pretty miniscule. Finally, we won the second tie breaker and later went on to win the South Florida Regional. Probably one of the best and craziest moments of my life. We named our robot Tie-breaker in commemoration of the moment.

At Palmetto, the 4th alliance got the 4 rotors turning and scored 395 points with no penalties! Most impressive part? Only two robots did that. The alliance captain robot was defensive and couldn’t do gears! It was the third partner who did 8 gears in that match.

I wasn’t personally at the event, but at FIM Southfield Semifinal 1 Match 2 Team 33 and their alliance won by 1 point. What was this point from? 1 ball shot high in auto for 1 kPa. Demonstrates how fuel will act as a tiebreaker in matches to come

I really enjoyed qualification match 76 form the Southfield district, not because my team won, but that match we ruined the Killer Bees winning streak because at that point they were 11-0-0 but at the end of that match they were 11-1-0 thanks to our amazing defense skills.

The match in Auburn when a robot caught fire

283 did 8 gears – and climbed. Wow.
