Mounting Geartooth sensor!

This year they changed up our gearboxes with the Banebots 12:1 Transmission. I know how a gear-tooth sensor works and how it should be mounted in relation to a gear, I just don’t know where what gear to mount it to. Does it go somewhere in the transmission or what? If someone could possibly take a picture of their robot w/ the gear tooth sensor attached and post it or e-mail it to me that would be very much appriciated.

The gear tooth sensor is intended to count any rotating part that has indentations. A gear or sprocket is what is needed. You will have to make a bracket to hold it in place and position it experimentally until it counts and gives you valid data. The documents go into some depth on this part. Without a look at your robot, it is hard to give more specific suggestions.

The gear tooth sensor will not give you direction info.

There is an add-on Banebot option for a quadrature encoder, that mounts on the outboard (wheel-side) shaft of the Banebot motor.
