What music (if any) are you guys using for your animation? Our team has decided to use “Hey Man, Nice Shot” by Filter, from Gran Turismo. Some of our members don’t like it though. I’m thinking about changing it to the Armitage III Main Theme, but I doubt my group members would approve. It’s a really nice song from a most interesting anime.
Remember that you must first get permission from the music owners if you are to include it in your final animation. We are using piano music that one of the team members wrote so we don’t need persmission as we already have it.
From what I know, all you have to do is mention the group name and song in the credits without having to ask the artists for permission. Can someone confirm this for me? If we have to get permission, it’s more worth it to just write your own song.
I’m planning on using ROSIER by Luna Sea, and the first bit of Kagerou ~Kageroh~ by T. M. Revolution. Using the main theme, Ranma? Don’t rule out Multi-Matrix or Chase, they’re both good too. Or you could use Cheat! Cheat.
Hey Man Nice Shot by filter may not be appropriate…as the song was written about former pennsylvanian secretary of treasury R. Bud Dwyer who shot himself in the head during a press conference on live TV just after he was convicted of bribery…don’t ask why i know this its just my kinda thing.
Dude who looks at things
yeah… you have to get permission. i asked last year about that and they said i need either a letter, email, whatever giving me permission to use their stuff.
hi everyone, as far as i know, i heard like ranma that all we have to do is put credit to the artist in our credits. There was a post on the FIRST website about using music in the Chairman’s Award…the respone was any video in the robotics competition this year only needs to show credit of using the song in the entry. They didn’t say the response was to just the Chairman’s award so i took that to mean we could do that for th animation too. Don’t quote me on this though, i could be wrong. we’re using a smashing pumpkins song for the animation
Two things
One…I am making an origional music mix for our animation.
Two…if you only use thrity seconds of a sound clip…it is legal

If you go to Sonic Foundry.com you can get a free download of Acid Express. It uses samples which you can download off of Sonic Foundry’s sample page and from other pages like Pocketfuel.com to make original compositions. The girls had just as much fun making the music as they did doing the animation!
first specifically stated that any sort of music that was to be put into the animation and was copyrighted, had to obtain permision from the artist or record company. That also meant that a letter had to be submitted with your animation in order for you not to be disqualified. We had some problems with that last year, and decided to mix our own stuff.
A note for all animation teams, Acid DJ is not that hard to learn, and all that you need to find is a loop (beats) and then you add you own sound effects and special noises (narrations, reverbs, echos, scratching or what not), all in all it ensures that your animation will not be disqualified and you get the satisfaction of making your music.
If any one needs help with acid dj, post a reply with YOUR email and I’ll try to help you out.
i was wonderring about the teams that used copyrighted music what thier scores were (if any). were you disqualified or did they score them?
