My ONLY complaint

I have only one problem with all these rule changes: where is the official statement??

If FIRST is going to change the rules, teams better find out about it. There are quite a few teams in my area who don’t know about these changes. They were genuinely surprised when I told them. How come these changes aren’t yet on the FIRST homepage? How come an official announcement has not yet been sent to all the team’s primary contacts? What is going on??

Someone enlighten me. They can’t possibly expect word of mouth to be good enough, can they?

If FIRST has not yet addressed this issue, I’m gong to try to get in touch with Lori. But I don’t want to do it if I’m simply overlooking something. Did I sleep through the announcement?

There has not been an announcement. However, it may be that the FIRST people are
simply getting ready for Nationals, or haven’t yet decided on whether the rule
will stick or not.

Even so, in my oppinion this is a big enough issue that they should address it ASAP.

I agree with Danny, this is a very huge think and I think they should really send out a memo or something

I remember seeing in early messages on the change that the Ypsilanti event was a ‘test bed’ for the 3-team system, and FIRST was going to decide after taking a look at how well it worked if that’s what they were going to do at Nationals…

I don’t know… after all of the rumors and speculation about what is going to happen at nationals, i’m beginning to like this suspense.
additionally, i think that the safest way to make sure everyone knows about the changes would be to announce them at opening ceremonies along with a web memo & distribution at check-in.

It is my understading that it was a decision that it would be a vote and
the great lakes regional. correct? Well the teams there voted to use this
new alliance rule. correct? Well maybe they will do the same fo the
Nationals that is take a vote.

I did what I said I’d do and wrote Lori regarding the rule changes. Here is her message:

Daniel,

The decision made here at FIRST yesterday afternoon is…the top 16 seeded alliances will chose their alliance partner. There will be a third alliance with every team (making a total of 48 teams of the 220) but how they get “chosen” has yet to be determined.
Further details will follow either on our web site, or the Chiefdelphi web site.

Keep watching!
