Well, everybody else seems to be posting the thank-you’s here, so I guess I’ll throw mine in there too(I Hope I can remember everybody):
Erin(1) -> I think I’ve been talking to you just about the longest out of anybody I’ve met this year…I think it was an early post in one of these forums, but I digress. I’ve said for the past couple years(mainly within my team) that this competition is as much about the friends that you make as it is how well your robot performs on the field, and our friendship is definitely one of those that will stick in my mind for a long time to come…
Lora(69) -> I guess something good DID come out of that Kickoff Central site that I threw together…I started talking to you that day, and it carried through even to now, and I’m sure that we’ll keep in touch as the next season approaches
Ellen(67) -> I kinda knew you already from last year, but that doesn’t stop me from putting you in here now…it seemed like every time I passed by wherever you were sitting, you always got my attention somehow, even if it was just to say hi…
Anton(419) -> I must say, it appears that your team’s web site has become what I was shooting for the site of every team that I’ve ever worked with to be…a very big accomplishment for a rookie team! I’m looking forward to see what new ideas RAMBOTS comes up with for 2001!
All the GMCIA Teams -> I know I’ve said this before, but THANK YOU for all your help in the first large-scale test of a shared scouting database for the FIRST robotics competition. I am currently in the process of making it bigger, better, and more complete for 2001.
Jason(168) -> I know that you’re technically included in the GMCIA list above, but I feel that a special thank you is in order for you…you took the time to gather pictures of all the robots at the national competition, but you didn’t stop there…you actually burned a CD-ROM of those pictures for every team participating in the network! Thank you again!
Eric, K.C., Theresa, Kirsten, and the rest of the FIRST crew at the GLR(FIRST) -> Thank you for giving me the opportunity to work alongside you at the 2000 Great Lakes Regional. The decision to be a student at EMU was partially based on their involvement with FIRST, and I am glad that I had the opportunity to continue my work with this great program…
Tony Norman(Innov First) -> Thanks for all your help as I was developing the Dashboard OCX…the comments that you sent after testing an early beta version helped me to fix the remaining bugs in the system to create a nearly foolproof system.
Dave ‘The Man’(Innov First) -> It’s amazing how you can get to know some people that you end up keeping in touch with for a while(believe me, I have MANY stories about things like that), but for us, it was while putting the labels on the Arena Controllers at the Great Lakes Regional…and it seemed like after that, every time I saw you, we would end up talking for at least a few minutes…I’m looking forward to working with you again next year!
Ken Patton(65) -> You have opened so many doors for me this year, from putting me in touch with team 66 so I could have a team this year, to tolerating the few bugs that we encountered as we worked to set up a collaborative scouting system, to who knows how many other opportunities that I have had this year that were in some way related to work that you did.
Team 65 -> You guys have been our partner team from the very beginning on this…we shared a bus in Chicago(which was a VERY interesting experience =), helped us take the first steps towards our level of team spirit that we had by the time we got to chicago(‘You can do it all night long!’), and displayed the ultimate degree of gracious professionalism and sportsmanship when you presented our team with one of the J&J sportsmanship award trophies that you recieved in chicago to us for our role in the project.
And of course, all of team 66 -> I don’t even know where to start with this one…you took a chance on a first-year college student who you knew little to nothing about, and made him feel like a true member of the team…and, despite any rumors of me heading across town to the other team that there might be(is there really? i dunno…) i WILL be back with you guys again next year…see you in august!
And in order to stay out of trouble…
Everybody I forgot -> I don’t know what it was about this year, but I would definitely have to say that it has been my best yet! I just want to thank everybody for their part in making that possible!
