NASA Sponsored Rookie Team Chairman's Award Requirements

Our team received the NASA Rookie grant this year, which required us to submit the Chairman’s Award on STIMS.

However, in the administrative manual (Section 6.4.1), it states:

“Rookie Teams will NOT be considered for the award, are NOT required to provide a Chairman’s Award video, and will not be interviewed, as Chairman’s Award judging resources are limited.”

But on the next section:

“All teams that received a NASA Grant, including rookie recipients, must prepare a Chairman’s Award submission on line through the Youth Team Member Registration System (STIMS)”

Does this mean that we’re only supposed to submit the application in STIMS? Is the Chairman’s Video necessary, and/or the Interview?

  1. NASA teams MUST submit the Chairman’s essay and executive summary. If you miss the deadline, then send it to NASA at the email address on your grant application before the season is over. If you do not comply then you are in breach of contract and will not be awarded NASA funding in the future.

  2. Rookie teams cannot earn the Chairman’s award.

  3. Rookie teams do not submit a video nor do they go to the Chairman’s interview at the event.

All three of the rules are simultaneously true, and not mutually exclusive.
