Langley Aerospace Research Summer Scholars, also known as LARSS, is a 10-week summer internship at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, Va. Internships are available for rising undergraduate juniors, seniors and graduate students who are pursuing degrees in aeronautical engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, materials science, computer science, atmospheric science, astrophysics, physics, chemistry or selected aerospace disciplines of interest to LaRC. Students with other majors are also invited to apply.

The 10-week internship includes doing a research project under the supervision of a researcher, attending technical lectures by prominent engineers and scientists, and presenting project results at a poster session. Additional elements include tours of LaRC wind tunnels, computational facilities and laboratories.

Approximately 125 students are selected each year. Undergraduate juniors and seniors are awarded scholarships of $4,500 each for their summer research experience. This amount is increased to $5,000 for graduate students. The 2007 project will begin Monday, June 4, and conclude Friday, August 10.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens. The application and all materials must be received electronically no later than Feb. 1, 2007.
