Thats EXACTLY what I said: I’ll get the footage just in time for the Annapolis regional my team is going to on Wendsday…

Will these be broadcast online?

YAY I’m going to be at the annapolis regional

It would be cool if there was converage at the other regionals, though.

hmmm. i notice the new york city regional and canadian regional is not listed. guess the parents of the team will have to take out their camcorders again this year

NO!!! The St. Louis Regional isnt on the list!!

It’s like 95% NASA teams…how can this be… :ahh:

Hmm… that’s odd. I remembered that last year the Canadian regional was broadcast… otherwise, I don’t see how my dad could’ve been watching it while I was at the regional.

i assume/ HOPE they will also be webcasting the addictional NASA sites, such as VCU and St. Louis… otherwise, it will be a very, very sad time :frowning:

A mentor on our team who works at NASA has been in charge of web-casting the VCU and Philidelphia regionals in past years, and just last year he helped with the St. Louis regional web-cast as well. I can only assume he’s still doing it, but I will ask him if it helps to belay your fears.

Stephen

The way it has worked in the past is that a few, usually, nationals and 1 or 2 other events were broadcast on nasa tv. this means that anyone with the nasa tv channel can watch it. It also means that you can get a webcast very easily. Team 188 keeps a very good list of places that webcast nasa tv. http://www.team188.com/2002/videos/nasatv.shtml All that this announcement is about is the NASA tv broadcasts, and it is much better then before. These are the much more expensive ones to do.

NASA has also webcast many other regionals. This was done seperately from the NASA tv (as far as I know). Information about those would be posted on robotics.nasa.gov. As of right now, nothing has been announced.

Remember that NASA, like everyone else, is having funding trouble. Don’t be suprised if your favorite event is not webcast. But, don’t give up hope yet, either.

Okay, so none of the local regionals are being shown. But like JR said, I’m not giving up hope yet. Actually, I’m glad I actually have the ability to watch other regionals at all with NASA TV.

Don’t forget that in the past some regionals have been webcast by sponsors other than NASA. Like the NYC regional and UTC regionals. So there may still be hope.

The NYC regional was hosted last year by Columbia.

Since they are not doing it this year, that remains to be questioned.

I am also excepting a webcast of UTC, and also of the BAE NH regional.

I notice that they are only broadcasting one day from each regional. So what about the other days?

One thing I observed about the webcasts is that there is usually a large number of NASA teams at those regionals.

It looks like NASA is going to be webcasting regionals too! Here is the current schedule and the link…

NASA Langley/VCU Regional
Richmond, Virginia
March 6-8

Buckeye Regional
Cleveland, OH
March 6-8

More Regional information coming soon…!

Why are there only 2 webcasts?! Last year they had almost every regional webcast. They don’t even have the 4 fields at nationals being broadcast. We were hoping for these webcasts for the students in Engineering classes to be able to watch. Plus all the regionals are only broadcast on NASA TV on Saturday, and none on Friday so students can’t watch in class and learn.

Note that those are only the first week of regionals. It’s highly likely there will be other webcasts in later weeks, but those two are just for the first week of competition.

I noticed that the NASA link lists the VCU webcast as being on March 7th and 8th. I trust that the webcast will be on Friday and Saturday. Hooray! Good luck to everyone!

For those of you interested in watching today’s practice rounds from the VCU regional, here’s a link that has not yet been posted.

As of this moment there are two feeds are up and running. Nothing exciting is happening yet, but I think the first practice rounds are slated to start at 10:30am.
