For all of those that were attending the final match knows what an amazing match with this (I was hoping nothing would top our 4 bot phenomena www.team975.org/day3/bar4.jpg ) But this was just plain cool, I did a movie on my little Powershot A70 and I have here the last 30 or 40 seconds of the match, the battle for the bar.
in NH we had one semi final where all bots were hanging (one score was dropped because the ref’s said it was supported by another bot) and we also had a bunch of 3 ways on the bar
I think we have the video too, I just don’t have it with me so I can’t load it to the site. If we only had one more second we would have been up and won. But congrats winners, it was a good match. If anyone has any pictures of the end of this match please post them.
the VCU finals were great (yay for webcasts). I missed the first couple of quarter finals but the bots were just so awesome. Congrats to the winners 977, 33 and 388!
I agree, the final match was pretty good. but some of the early matches (especially yesterdays, from what I hear) really, don’t take this personnally, sucked. NO AUTONOMOUS MODE? :shake head: c’mon guys, even just racing across the field is ok. Not sure? check the Programming forum.
We turned our autonomous mode off after our first practice round. We will need to do some testing. The bot just spun around and destroyed itself. We managed to get it back up and make it to the semi-finals. But we continued the rest of the competition without the autonomous mode.
Yeah…the whole stadium was on their feet cheering when 4 bots were on the bar at VCU…and even more cheering when the buzzer went and they were all still hanging.
The four-bots-hanging match at VCU was amazing! It was the tie-breaker third match of the third quarter-finals, and whichever alliance won went forward to the semi-finals. Four robots head for the bar while the human players start plinking purple balls into the goals. As the second, then the third, and then the fourth robot reached for the bar, the crowd went nuts. As the fourth robot cleared the ground with just a few seconds left to go, bedlam erupted in the place, and virtually everyone was on their feet. I was screaming at Jeff Seaton “that’s what we wanted to see happen!!!” Then the scores came in from the refs - no penalties, and a difference in the scores of only one 5-point ball. About as perfect, and as exciting, a match as anyone could ever hope for!!!
At least until the third game of the finals took place… :yikes:
I wanted to talk to you about a few things ( that much including ) Because from our player station I saw you actually mouth “That’s what we wanted to see!” with you pointing at the playing field. But I had a few questions regarding NASA and the summer governor’s school… I got completely rejected by my county (but chosen by my school) to go to the NASA mentorship program, and I realllllly wanted to go. I hope I got beat by FIRST participants, because it upset me.
Not too bad for a 14-year old driver (even if he is my son). Actually, according to him, the match with three robots hanging was much harder due to the good blocking. That one was *really * exciting. Right down to the wire.
We lost both matches with 3 and 4 robots hanging by about 5 points each time, but we had a great time, and no regrets. The roar of the crowd made up for it.
If anyone has this vid downloaded, priv msg me, transfer it to me and then I can throw it up onto my host. I got 30 GBs/month of bandwidth that I can host it on.
Yea we lost both of those matchs by 5 but hey nice work 422, and 975. We had fun and what is a better way to go out then with a 4 robot hanging finish. Good Game both sides
EDIT: Also Team 33 aka Buzz awesome D to keep 616 from pulling up.
