National Instrument support issues with RoboRio 2.0

My teams’ roborio 2.0 started flashing unrecoverable error, I tired to reflash the micro-sd card of the robrio twice and that did not fix anything. Since my team has a week six competition I replaced the board with a 1.0 (NI was closed). I called NI and they told me that they could not help me and I needed to call a different company. I called again and was told to post in their forum. I posted in their forum and then was marked as spam. I would prefer to use our 2.0 if we can. Does anybody have any other trouble shooting steps to take? I am stuck after reflashing the mirco-sd card twice and trying to boot into safe mode. The roborio will not show up at all the reimaging program. This problem started 2 hours after trying to have two cameras connected to the roborio.

Thanks

Hey CharlieT, I’m sorry you’re having troubles with your roboRIO 2.0 and getting in touch with our support team.

I recommend the following steps:

  1. If the micro-SD card has a sticker, please remove it and try it again with your roboRIO
  2. If you have another micro-SD card to try, it could be helpful, as well
    1. Maybe at your event you can test with another team’s SD card to check if the problem is the card or the roboRIO itself
  3. Please write back in the NI forums (https://forums.ni.com/t5/Troubleshooting-Hardware/bd-p/TroubleshootingHardware) if the hardware still doesn’t work. Let me know if you get flagged as spam and I can investigate internally.

Cheers,
Oscar

I tried with different micro-sd card and had no luck. Are there any other steps I can take?

Are you trying to flash the SD card using Rio imaging tool i the Rio, or using something like Balena Etcher in a laptop? I strongly recommend the latter. Also make sure you use the correct image file and unzip it first before using with the Etcher…

If you have an corrupted SD card or a bad flash, you have to flash the card not through the RIO. If another R2 is available i would test the SD on it or borrow an known good card. Have you tried booting with nothing connected to the USB ports?

I have used both balena etcher and raspberry pi imager and it has been unzipped. Neither has worked the roborio 2.0 will not show up at all in the imager

Yes. I have booted with nothing but power and it still blinks unrecoverable

Anyone getting help from NI? I have a new RoboRio 2.0 and a flashing red status. I used the Raspberry Pi program to upload the image on the SD card, but still flashing red. Anyone success in recovering from the unrecoverable?

Have you posted on the NI forum? If you have it takes a couple days. In the meantime try a different SD card if you can, so you can get though there troubleshooting process quicker and get a resolution from NI
