For tomorrow, the beloved kickoff day. There is a major storm expected to hit the NE. In my home town of Connecticut, we have winter storm warnings, with cautions including up to one inch of snow per hour. They are expecting to have 10-12 inches of snow, with the warning starting at 5 AM. Hopefully, this powerful storm, which also includes freezing rain, doesn’t effect the kick off :ahh:. Some of NH is also included in the alert, and this is expected to increase as the storm track becomes more clear. Hopefully all the NE teams will still be able to have kickoff meetings that they planned, i sure hope our teams doesn’t get canceled.
We’re having our kick-off meeting Sunday afternoon, so the weather shouldn’t affect us. The kick-off is also going to be at a church instead of the school otherwise we’ll have to pay for the school’s use and if the weather is bad they wouldn’t allow us to meet there anyhow.
And trust me, I need the extra day. I’m building (as usual) a scaled down mock field that I’ll debut at my team’s kick-off.
Yikes…I can’t wait to see that happens! ( I have not been paying much attention to the weather channel I guess)
I would love to see snow on the order of the Blizzard of '78…don’t worry, the competition will go on!
My daughter has a 1998 Jeep Cherokee with brand new snows…I mean REAL snows…and I took it to work yesterday and it seemed unstoppable…so I am ready!
Bring it on! (both snow and kickoff
So…Has anyone spotted the NASA truck in Manchester yet? Where did they park it this year? Is there another truck with what looks like a very large hair dryer parked close by?
Maybe they were thinking ahead this year, parked the truck at UNH. Then had alternate transportation for the NASA guys to their motel.
Let’s hope that they have made it there safely through the stormy Northeast.
FIRST is surrounded by winter weather problems every year be it kickoff weekend, school vacation, or ship day.
It’s never stopped them yet…
I hope everyone has a safe trip this weekend and doesn’t bite too many more fingernails off in suspense.
Kickoff should be in California. Much nicer weather. Maybe in the bay area?
We’re supposed to have a cold front come through here this weekend. It might drop down into the 60’s. It was kind of cool last weekend too - I had to put a shirt on to mow my lawn.
Gary, I’ll trade you some snow for some of that 60 degree weather. I have plenty of snow, just tell me how much you want. I’ll be generous and even throw in some sleet and freezing rain also.
Maybe I should post this in the CD-Swap!
Went on a convertible ride today, and probably will tomorrow too. I say Florida is still paying off what it owes us from weather troubles earlier this school year! I do not miss being cold like when I lived in Indiana. Birthday blizzards weren’t fun.
Early in the morning, the roads around my home in Manchester were rather poor. However, the plows have been out all last night and part of today, so there really shouldn’t be any problems.
What’s the matter with all of you americans… you all talk like you’ve never seen snow. I would have thought by now you would have learned to drive through it. Or you could just make like me and use a dogsled…by which i mean my mom’s Accord.
Just an observation-
it almost always snows at some point during the kickoff weekend- such is New Hampshire
anyone recall the year when the shuttle busses were sliding off Dean’s driveway?
